Fatal Vehicle Crash - Pirlangimpi

Police

Northern Territory Police were called to the scene of a fatal vehicle crash 15 kilometres east of Pirlangimpi Community at approximately 03:40 pm this afternoon.

Police believe the 63-year-old driver swerved to avoid hitting a wallaby, but lost control on the unsealed wet dirt road, causing the Toyota Land Cruiser to roll several times.

The driver was severely injured in the rollover and consequently died at the scene. The 26-year-old passenger suffered only minor injuries.

Police investigations are continuing.

The Northern Territory road toll now stands at 43 compared to 28 for the same period last year.
