Fatal single vehicle rollover - Ti Tree - Update

Police

Members of the Alice Springs Major Crash Investigation Section are continuing investigations into a fatal single vehicle roll-over on the Stuart Highway, approximately 36km south of Ti Tree at approximately 8:00pm last night.

Police originally reported five males travelling in the vehicle but after further investigation the number is now six.

Initial investigations indicate the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle after a rear tyre blew. Police believe alcohol may have contributed to the crash and that none of the passengers were wearing seatbelts.

All six men were injured in the rollover. Four of the men were conveyed to the Alice Springs hospital and two men to the Ti Tree medical clinic for treatment.

The 48-year-old driver died at the Alice Springs hospital.
