Fatal single vehicle rollover - Ti Tree

Police

Members of the Alice Springs Major Crash Investigation Section are today investigating a fatal single vehicle roll-over on the Stuart Highway, approximately 36km south of Ti Tree.

There were five males travelling in the vehicle when the crash occurred at approximately 8:00pm last night.

Initial investigations indicate the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle after a rear tyre blew. Police believe alcohol may have contributed to the crash.

All five men were injured in the rollover. Four of the men were conveyed to the Alice Springs hospital and one man to the Ti Tree medical clinic for treatment.

The 48-year-old driver died at the Alice Springs hospital. Of the three men who remain in hospital, one is in a stable condition in intensive care while the two others remain in emergency in a stable condition.

This now brings the Northern Territory road toll to 16, compared to 14 for the same period last year.
