NT Police and Fire and Rescue attended the scene shortly after 6:30 pm approximately five kilometres west of the Corroboree Park Tavern.

Initial investigations indicate the Hyundai Excel was travelling towards Jabiru when the driver veered off the road and overcorrected the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a road sign and rolled up to three times down a culvert before coming to a stop on all four wheels.

The 36-year-old male driver died at the scene as a result of the crash. The 34-year-old male passenger was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance.

Police believe alcohol and speed may have contributed to the crash.

Major Crash Investigation Unit are continuing with their investigations.
