Police are investigating a fatal single vehicle roll-over on the Stuart Highway this morning, approximately 2kms north of Acacia.

There were two males travelling in the vehicle when the crash occurred at approximately 3:30am. One male was pronounced deceased at the scene whilst the other was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital.

The maroon Holden Rodeo dual cab utility involved in the incident is believed to have been stolen from the Darwin City Compound earlier this morning.

Initial investigations appear that the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered across the inbound lane and into a bush before rolling approximately 15 metres off the road.

Further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing and more information will be provided when available.

This is the first fatality that has occurred on our roads in 2010. The road toll also stood at one this time in 2009.
