Fatal motorbike crash - Palmeston - update

Members from the Major Crash Investigation Unit are calling for public assistance after a 26-year-old motorcycle rider died in a crash involving a passenger bus on Tuesday afternoon.

Police have spoken to a number of people, however believe there are more witnesses that may have observed the crash and have not yet come forward.

Initial investigations suggest the rider was travelling along Roystonea Avenue at about 4:30 pm when the collision occurred at the intersection of Gurd Street in Farrar.

Police urge any one who may have witnessed the crash to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Detective Senior Sergeant, Bradley Currie said the Major Crash Investigation Unit are conducting a thorough investigation and appreciates the public's response so far.

"Although we have spoken to a number of witnesses' police are still calling for members of the public who observed the collision to come forward".

"Every piece of information is important and could possibly assist police to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash."

The road toll is currently 34, compared to 18 for the same period last year.
