Fatal crash – Humpty Doo - 4481750

Police

Members from the Darwin Traffic Enforcement Unit and Major Crash Investigators are investigating the crash that occurred early this morning, killing a 29-year-old female.

It is alleged that the woman, the only occupant of the car, was driving a beige Toyota Landcruiser along Pioneer Drive, between Jefferis Road and Ridley Road when it veered off the road and into a concrete driveway.

Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance officers were alerted to the crash at approximately 12:55 am and upon attendance, located the female trapped in the vehicle.

Emergency Service personnel assisted the woman, however she was declared deceased at the scene.

Police are investigating to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash, however at this stage believe it was due to the wet weather conditions.

Duty Superintendent Dean Moloney said that this was yet another reminder for people to slow down, especially during periods of wet weather.

The NT road toll now stands at five, compared to two for the same period last year.
