Emergency Shelters - Rosebery and Berry Springs

Police

The Northern Territory Emergency Service is pleased to announce that two new Emergency Shelters are available in Rosebery and Berry Springs.

The new shelters located at Rosebery Primary and Middle School and Berry Springs Primary School are now available for use and will provide the Palmerston and Rural area with an additional 1000 places.

Emergency shelters are for members of the public who do not have access to a coded building and will provide basic first aid and security.

In the event of a cyclone, local radio and television stations will provide regular advice, including when shelters are open to the public.

If you choose to use a public emergency shelter ensure you bring your emergency kit including enough food and water for three days.

Before you go to the shelter you should:

Clear your backyard
Doors, windows and louvers are closed and locked
Turn off water, gas and electricity and the mains

You cannot bring pets to the Rosebery or Berry Springs shelters; however, they can be taken to designated underground car parks.

Full details on what should be included in your emergency kit and a comprehensive list of shelters can be located at www.emergency.nt.gov.au

Remember with CYCLONES. GET READY, GET THRU.
