Electrocution – Jabiru - 4444747

Police

Police are investigating the death of a 24-year old Darwin man who received fatal injuries after it appears he was electrocuted attempting to unlawfully enter a building in Jabiru on Sunday night.

The owner of a Jabiru Mobile Service Station was contacted just after 11pm on Sunday by a security company informing him of an activated alarm at his premises.

The owner attended the premises immediately and discovered the male suspended in the ceiling and contacted police.

Initial investigations appear that the male was electrocuted when he cut a live wire with a pair of secateurs.

Entry to the building was made by removing roofing panels in order to gain access to the ceiling cavity.

Investigations are continuing and a file will be presented to the Northern Territory Coroner.

Police are calling for anyone who may have any knowledge of the events to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.nt.crimestoppers.com.au
