A 48-year-old man was arrested on Friday after drug detector dog Nugget located almost one and a half kilos of Cannabis in his backpack.
Police from the Drug Intelligence Unit and the Dog Operations Unit conducted a random search on a Greyhound bus from Adelaide on Friday. The man was arrested after police found four cryovaced bags of Cannabis in the man's backpack after a positive reaction from the drug dog.
The Cannabis, weighing 1.467 kg, had an estimated street value of $73,350 if sold in town.
The man has been charged with:
Possession of a commercial quantity of Cannabis
Supplying a commercial quantity of Cannabis
He will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
