Members of the Drug Enforcement Section located a total of 55.56 grams of cannabis yesterday, as a result of various Drug Detector Dog searches around Darwin. Police attended Darwin Airport light aircraft terminal at 8:00 am yesterday, screening passengers and luggage travelling to Wadeye. As a result 34 sachet bags of cannabis, weighing 29.02 grams was located in luggage containing groceries, concealed in a salt container. Later that morning members attended Australia Post in Winnellie and conducted screening of post and freight. Three packages returned positive indications of drugs and were subsequently searched. Located inside one package was a small packet of cereal which had been resealed, containing 11 deal bags of cannabis, weighing 7.97 grams. In a similar package a total 16.34 grams of cannabis was located concealed in another cereal packet. The third parcel contained a heart shaped tin concealing a sachet bag of cannabis, weighing 2.41 grams. Enquiries are continuing. Media contact: Rickie Scoot 8922 3185
