Police



Drug Enforcement Section members conducted routine screening of passengers waiting to board a 03.45 pm flight to Groote Eylandt yesterday when Drug Detector Dog, Taipan, located the offender.

Police located a total of 52 grams of cannabis on the offender.

The 51 year old was arrested and will be summonsed for the following offences:
Possess Trafficable Quantity of Cannabis
Supply Cannabis

"The Drug Enforcement Section, Dog Operations Unit and the Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk members will continue to conduct screening of passengers travelling to communities in an effort to limit the amount of drugs available.

"We are aware of the devastating affects that drugs can have on individuals and the community and this is why we are committed to targeting these offenders," he said.
