Drug Arrest - Palmerston

Police

Police charged a 26-year-old man in relation to drug offences in Moulden yesterday.

Police received a report of a suspicious letter at Australia Post on Wednesday 21 July.

Inside the letter were four sachets containing the drug methylmethcathinone.

Later that day members of the Drug Enforcement Section, Remote Community Drug Desk and Dog Operations Unit executed a search warrant at the man's residence and located:

48 handmade capsules - currently awaiting analysis
One capsule containing unknown powder - currently awaiting analysis
Six LSD tablets
6 sachets containing approximately 2.4 grams of methylmethcathinone

The man has been charged with the following offences:

Supply lysergic acid
Possess trafficable quantity of lysergic acid
Possess trafficable quantity of methylmethcathinone x 2
Possess quantity of analogue of methylmethcathinone

He is due to face Darwin Magistrates court on 25 August 2010.

"It is a great outcome for police to know these drugs didn't get the chance to hit our streets," A/Senior Sergeant Allan Milner said.

"These drugs are highly dangerous and potentiality deadly."
