Drug and firearm offences - Darwin

NT Police have arrested two men aged 26 and 29 in relation to drug and firearm offences in Malak overnight.

Members pulled over a Holden Commodore at about 11:22 pm on Holzerland Street for the purpose of a traffic apprehension.

A search of the vehicle was conducted with members locating two clip seal bags containing methamphetamine and a sawn off Boito shot gun.

The 26-year-old passenger claimed possession of the drugs and firearm and was subsequently arrested.

He is expected to face possible charges of:
* Possession a schedule two substance
* Possesses firearm unlicensed
* Unregistered firearm
* Fail to secure firearm

The passenger was also wanted for questioning in relation to a robbery that occurred on Smith Street on 29 September 2010; he has been charged in relation to that matter and will appear at the Darwin Magistrates Court today.

The 29-year-old driver was suspected of driving whilst under the influence of drugs and was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital for the purpose of a blood test. He is expected to be summonsed in relation to driving with a prohibited drug in blood.
