Police

NT Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in relation to traffic offences after he was caught drink driving in Alice Springs this morning.

Members of the Southern Traffic Operation Unit pulled over the man on the Stuart Highway at approximately 7:00 am. He was subjected to a road side breath test which returned a positive result.

The man was arrested and taken back to Alice Springs Police Station where he supplied a breath analysis reading of 0.248 percent, five times over the legal limit.

The man remains in police custody and will face changes of:
Drive high range blood alcohol content
Driving while disqualified
Driving unregistered motor vehicle
Driving motor vehicle with wrong number plates

"It is disgusting to see that people continue to get behind the wheel after a night of heavy drinking" Sergeant Robertson said.

"Police are committed to making our roads safe and we will continue to target drink drivers 24 hours a day, seven days a week".
