Two people have died following a single vehicle roll-over near Hermannsburg this morning.

Police received a report just before 8am that a Ford Falcon sedan had rolled on Larapinta Drive approximately 20 kilometres from Hermannsburg. A man and a woman, who were two of five occupants in the vehicle, died in the crash.

Police from Hermannsburg and members of the Major Crash Unit from Alice Springs attended and traffic was diverted around the scene for several hours.

Police believe the vehicle was travelling in a westerly direction towards Hermannsburg when the driver lost control of the vehicle. No further details are available at this stage.

The deaths bring the Territory road toll to 20 compared to 14 for the same period last year.
