Police are continuing to investigate the double fatal crash on Lake Elliott access road north of Elliott on Friday.



Police from Tennant Creek Regional Investigations Unit, Tennant Creek and Elliott general duties members and the Alice Springs Major Crash Unit attended the scene after receiving reports of the crash at about 2:00pm on Friday.



Two children aged 5 and 14-years-old died as a result of the crash and a 14-year-old boy has been airlifted to Adelaide Hospital. Three boys aged 8,12 and 14 remain Alice Springs Hospital in a stable condition and a further two children aged 13 and 16 have been airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital where they remain in a stable condition.



Police from the Major Crash Unit in Alice Springs are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.



The deaths bring the Territory road toll to 50 compared to 31 for the same period last year.
