Police are investigating an incident in Wadeye overnight in which a police car and police officers were set upon by a large group of people.
Police received a report just after 3.30am this morning of an unlawful entry at a house in Pultchen Street. Three offenders fled when police arrived and a 15-year-old male was arrested a short time later on the roof of a nearby house.
As police were escorting the alleged offender back to the police car they were confronted by a group of up to 60 community members wielding metal bars and rocks. The group began throwing rocks at police with one of them shattering the driver's side window of the police vehicle. Members managed to get the alleged offender into the police vehicle and then drove to the police station without further incident.
Investigations are continuing.
