Disturbance Marrara - Friday

Police

Casuarina Police were alerted to a disturbance in Marrara on Friday night, which resulted in four males being assaulted.

It is believed the incident began at about midnight when a guest was asked to leave a birthday party at a club in Marrara. The incident escalated into a fight and four males aged 17, 19, 31 and 49-years-old were assaulted, receiving facial injuries.

Police are currently interviewing witnesses in relation to the incident.

This party was not registered with the NT Police.

Superintendent Pauline Polychrone says " Police would like to take this opportunity to remind the public of the Party Safe service available through the NT Police. Registering your party with Police will allow members to unobtrusively monitor the event and will be able to react as quickly as possible if trouble should occur".

Some simple tips will help ensure parties are what they are meant to be; an event where everyone has a good time.

Inform neighbours in advance and provide a phone number in case they wish to contact you
Issue written invitations and include a specific finishing time. Make entry by invitation only
Encourage parents to collect their children at a pre-arranged time
Restrict the supply of full strength beers, champagne, wines and spirits and supply lots of non alcoholic drinks
Provide food
Parents should contact the host of the party to gain details

For more information in relation to Party Safe you can pick up a registration form from your local Police Station or online at http://www.pfes.nt.gov.au.
