Disturbance –Alice Springs

Police are investigating an incident in which a number of people were assaulted outside a bar in Alice Springs last night.

Police received a report just before 1am of a disturbance outside Bojangles in Todd Street. When they arrived police found five males had been assaulted and suffered minor injuries. Witnesses told police a group of up to 30 people set upon the victims outside the bar. One of the offenders dislodged a street sign from its housing and used it to hit one of the victims.

The victim told police he was about to move his friend's scooter to the car park behind the premises when one of the offenders started shaking the bike and assaulting the victim with the street sign.

The offenders ran off when police arrived. One is described as being of Aboriginal appearance wearing dark trousers, no shirt and a white bandage on his left arm. Police investigating the incident are examining security footage of the scene.
