An autopsy will be conducted today on the body of a man who died on the Uluru climb at the weekend.

The 54-year-old Australian tourist collapsed as he was descending the climb around 3pm on Saturday. Park rangers who were working at the base of the rock attended along with paramedics but the man was unable to be revived.

His body was brought back to Alice Springs yesterday and an autopsy will be conducted today to determine the cause of death.
