The three missing commercial mud crab fishermen have been located. Five recreational fishermen are still missing however, two recreational vessels matching the description have been sighted on the beach approx 65km North West of Borroloola.

Aerial searches of the region located the three commercial mud crab fishermen and the two recreational vessels at approx 12:15pm Friday 2 April 2010.

The commercial crabbers were located approx 100km North West of Borroloola.

Marine and Fisheries Enforcement Section are making their way to both locations and are currently in the rescue phase of the operation.

Care Flight is assisting. The crabbers will be evacuated to Borroloola by helicopter as soon as possible and will be treated for exposure and dehydration as a precaution.

The search area for the missing fishermen has been narrowed down and the search continues for Marine and Fisheries Enforcement Section.
