Please be advised the NT Fire and Rescue Service will be conducting a series of controlled burns in the rural area today.

The burns will take place in the Humpty Doo area along Anglesey and Produce Roads and in the Howard River area.

Hazard Reduction Officer Patrick Skewes from NTFRS advises drivers to take care travelling in the area today as smoke may limit vision on the road.

"Please slow down if you see smoke on the road and if possible avoid the area".

"People suffering from asthma are urged to stay in well ventilated areas away from the smoke."
