Please be advised the NT Fire and Rescue Service are currently conducting a controlled burn in Virginia as a result of a deliberately lit fire in the area.

The burn will take place in the vicinity of Virginia Road and the Stuart Highway.

Fire Watch Commander Nick Bell from NTFRS advises drivers to take care when travelling in the area today as smoke may limit vision on the road.

"Please slow down if you see smoke on the road and if possible avoid the area".

"People suffering from asthma are urged to stay in well ventilated areas away from the smoke."
