Cliff fall - Darwin City

NT Fire and Rescue Service were called to the Esplanade in Darwin City last night after received report a person had fallen off a cliff.


At about 10:00pm last night the Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to an incident where a man had slipped of the edge of a cliff opposite the Novotel Hotel. It appears the man was walking along the cliff edge when he misjudged the distance and slipped; falling approximately ten feet to the bottom of the cliff.


Fire and Rescue crews coordinated the rescue and successfully brought the man to safety.

St John Ambulance attended the scene.

The man was not seriously injured during the incident.

NT Fire and Rescue Watch Commander, Nick Bell said "The NT Fire and Rescue service encourages people to drinks responsibility and be mindful of their surroundings especially near cliff edges"


"This sort of incident is very common around this time of year and quite often alcohol is a contributing factor" he said.
