Charges – Domestic incident - Leanyer

Police

Police have charged the 36-year-old male in relation to a domestic disturbance that occurred in Leanyer on Saturday morning.

It is alleged that the male attended the residence of his 35-year-old estranged wife on Rosewood Crescent at approximately 3:15 am and proceeded to cause a large disturbance.

He removed their two-year-old son and left the residence after causing structural damage to the elevated house.

The male was apprehended in Virginia on Levey Road and later returned a blood alcohol content reading of .102 percent.

He was charged with:

Damage property with loss over $5 000 (x2)
Aggravated entry of a dwelling at night to commit an offence
Assault a person
Assault a member of the Police Force
Resist police in execution of duty
Exceed speed limit
Fail to signal intention to turn left
Fail to restrain child
Drive medium range blood alcohol content
Recklessly endanger life.

He was remanded in custody and is to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court today.
