Residents of Alice Springs are advised that due to heavy rain in the area in the past few days two causeways have been closed in the CBD.

Tuncks Road Causeway and Schwarz Crescent Causeways were closed to traffic around 11pm last night after the Todd River began flowing.

All other causeways remain open at this stage but the situation will continue to be monitored throughout the day.

Police are asking people to stay away from the area if possible to avoid traffic congestion and not to try to swim or wade in the Todd River due to hazardous conditions.
