Cattle truck rollover –Alice Springs

A road train driver was uninjured after one of his trailers rolled near Jim's Place this afternoon.

Police received a report just after 1.30pm that the last trailer on a road train carrying 120 head of cattle had rolled on the Stuart Highway four kilometres north of Jim's Place.

Police from Imanpa and Alice Springs attended the scene to round up cattle which had escaped from the trailer and destroy those which were badly injured.

The Stuart Highway was not blocked by the incident however, police are still urging motorists to drive with caution around the accident scene.

Investigations into the cause of the incident are continuing and no further details are available at this stage.
