Police

Members apprehended the man at Groote Eylandt Airport after locating two bottles of spirits in the offender's luggage. A further 111 clip seal bags of cannabis were located concealed in the lining of the offender's suitcase, with an estimated street value of over $11,000 if sold in the community.

The man was charged with the following offences:

Supply Dangerous Drug in Community
Possess cannabis - trafficable quantity
Bring Liquor into a Restricted Area

He was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear before Darwin Magistrates Court on Monday May 10.

Superintendent Brent Warren said: "The impact of alcohol and drug abuse in remote communities can be quite significant. Police will continue to interrupt the supply of illegal substances in remote communities and closely target offenders who continue to selfishly exploit residents in remote communities for their own financial gain."
