Bus crash – Tennant Creek 4471884

Four people have been seriously injured following a bus crash north of Tennant Creek early this morning.

Police received a report just before 5.30am today of a rollover on the Stuart Highway 122 kilometres north of Tennant Creek. A Greyhound bus carrying 17 occupants rolled onto its side after hitting a culvert.

Police, ambulance, fire crews and NTES members attended the scene from Tennant Creek and Elliott. Of the 17 people on board the northbound bus, 10 have received minor injuries, three are uninjured and four have received serious injuries including a man trapped under the bus.

Staff from nearby Helen Springs Station and Bootu Creek Mine have also attended the scene to assist as has a doctor from the Tennant Creek Hospital.

Police investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing and no further details are available at this stage.
