Police have recovered the body of a man who was reported missing after jumping into a river at Atheleye Station, 20 km's north of Arlparra .

The man was one of two brothers reported missing on Saturday morning.

The incident was reported to police after another member of the family witnessed them being swept down stream.

Police from Arlparra, the Territory Response Section, Community and NT Emergency Service volunteers conducted ground and air searches throughout the area over the weekend.

This morning a helicopter with a retrieval crew was flown to the area after the pilot of a mustering helicopter reported a body in the river at around 7.30am.

TRS members retrieved the body of a 32-year-old man approximately 22 kilometres downstream from where he initially went into the water. The man's body was taken to the Arlparra Clinic and will be flown to Alice Springs later today.

Police are still searching for the man's 25-year-old brother.
