Auxiliary of the Year Awarded to Ken Williams

Police Auxiliary Ken Williams, currently based in Tennant Creek, is the winner of the 2010 Police Auxiliary of the Year Award.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr John McRoberts travelled to Tennant Creek to present Ken with his award on the 15 April.

Police Commissioner, John McRoberts said the prestigious award was highly contested and Ken was chosen from a selection of highly commendable Auxiliaries.

"I congratulate Ken on this achievement that recognises his outstanding contribution to the Northern Territory Police Force.

"Ken received this award for his ongoing support of colleagues, his energy to get the job done and his compassion for the wider community that he serves," the Commissioner said.

Ken commenced with the NT Police Force in 2001 at the age of 54, and has served in Darwin at the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre, Watch-house, Court Cells and Summary Prosecutions Section.

He also assisted with the International Association of Women Police Conference and the 2009 Commissioners Conference, both held in Darwin.

Ken is presently serving in the Watch House in Tennant Creek.

Auxiliary Ken Williams was humbled when he received his award which he says is going "straight to the pool room."

"I'm really overwhelmed with receiving this award. With all the great work Auxiliaries do across the Territory I never in my wildest dreams thought that this award would go to me." Ken said.

Congratulations to Ken and all of the Police Auxiliaries who were nominated for the award, which recognises the valuable contribution that all Police Auxiliaries make to the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services.
