Attempted child abduction - Darwin

Police

Police are calling for public assistance after an attempted child abduction in Nakara on Friday.

Police received the report of an attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl at approximately 2:50 pm near the park between Rattray Street and Adcock Crescent.

It is alleged the victim was walking home when she was approached by a male who grabbed her right shoulder and told her not to tell anyone.

The girl attempted to run off but was pulled back by the man. She managed to break his hold and run home where she reported the matter to her parents, who then contacted Police.

The male is described as being:

Of Caucasian appearance
Mid to late 30's
Approximately 185 centimetres tall
Muscular build
Hazel eyes
Jaw length curly dark brown hair with grey specks
Visible stubble with freckles across his nose and face area.
Wearing a pastel pink T-shirt with slim white vertical stripes, brown 3/4 length baggy shorts and black thongs.

The male had distinct over lapping front teeth and smelt strongly of urine.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of where the incident occurred and saw someone matching the description of the alleged offender, is urged to call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
