NT Police are currently investigating a suspicious fire at a Moulden residence that occurred early this morning.

Police received the report just before 2:00 am after an explosion with fire woke sleeping residents.

Initial investigations indicate a motorcycle that was strapped onto a trailer was set alight, causing smoke and heat damage to the house and veranda.

Residents of the property extinguished the fire and observed three persons attempting to flee the scene.

A 17-year-old female and two males aged 18 and 24 were apprehended by Police a short time later.

The two males were arrested and are currently being interviewed by police.

The 17-year-old female was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Investigations are continuing and there is no further information at this stage.
