Attempt Indecent assault-Alice Springs

A man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to indecently assault a woman in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Police received a report just after 3pm on Saturday that a 31-year-old woman had been approached by the alleged offender in the front yard of her Underdown residence. The woman told police the man attempted to indecently assault her as she was wheeling her bicycle down her driveway.

The man fled but was apprehended by a male friend of the victim a short time later. Police arrived and arrested the 27-year-old man and took him to the Watch House.

While in the Watch House the man allegedly tried to indecently assault a 33-year-old female police officer.

He has been charged with two counts of indecent assault and one of assaulting police. He was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
