Assaults at Local Football Match - Alice Springs

A football umpire and three police officers have been assaulted at Traeger Park, Alice Springs this afternoon. It is alleged that a young player from the under 17's Hermannsberg side assaulted an umpire after being sent off the ground.
Whilst executing their duties, it is alleged that three police officers have been assaulted. One officer was struck across the neck with a wooden flag pole, one officer had his uniform shirt ripped from him and a third officer sustained a bite to the leg. At this stage seven persons have been taken into custody and four people have been arrested on charges ranging from Disorderly Conduct to Assault and Assault Police.
