Assault witnesses called for –Alice Springs

Police are calling for witnesses to an assault after the victim was found injured on a vacant block in Alice Springs last week.

Police received a report from a passerby on Friday afternoon (April 9) just after 1.30pm that an injured woman had been located on a vacant block near the intersection of the Stuart Highway and Whitaker Street.

The woman was taken to Alice Springs Hospital by ambulance and treated for severe facial lacerations and broken ribs.

Police believe the woman may have been assaulted the night before. The 42-year-old victim is an Aboriginal female who was wearing a green skirt and black shirt at the time she was found.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information about the assault to phone police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
