NT Police expect to charge a 42-year-old man today in connection with a violent domestic disturbance in Tennant Creek overnight that left a woman with serious facial injuries.

The man was arrested in a park in Kathleen Street just after 1.15am after a police patrol found the man's wife bleeding from a large laceration to the forehead. Police allege the man hit his wife in the face with a bottle of sweet chilli sauce. The blow caused a large laceration to the forehead and ruptured her eyeball.

The 40-year-old woman was flown to Alice Springs Hospital where she is in a stable condition.
