Police are currently investigating the assault of a 43-year-old woman in Parap over night.

It is alleged the woman was involved in a disturbance at a unit block on Parap Road at about 11:00pm, before she was hit in the face with a glass bottle by and unknown male.

Upon police arrival, St John Ambulance personnel were attending to the female and later conveyed her to Royal Darwin Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

Police currently talking to a number of possible witnesses and will interview the victim today.
