Police are calling for witnesses after a 45-year-old female was assaulted while jogging in Leanyer this morning. The incident is alleged to have happed at 6.05am on Vanderlin Drive bike path opposite Hibiscus Shopping Centre.

The victim was jogging when the male offender approached her and lifted his hand as if to wave. The woman did not acknowledge the man, before he grabbed her from behind across the mouth. After the victim pushed the man away and screamed the offender then fled the scene towards Lee Point Road.

The man is described as: Aboriginal appearance, approximately 20-years-old; wearing dark blue/black shirt, red shorts, and no shoes and was about 165cms tall.

Members conducted patrols of the area, however were unable to locate the alleged offender.

Police urge any one who may have witnessed the attack or who has further information in relation to the incident to contact them on 131 444, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
