Police have arrested a 30 year old male following the assault of another patron at the Beachfront Hotel in Nightcliff.

At around 10pm last night, a 41-year-old patron was punched and kicked in the head and lost consciousness.

The offender has fled the scene however police have pursued on foot and subsequently located the male near the Rapid Creek foot bridge.

He was arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch house and is expected to be interviewed later today.
