Assault and unlawful entry – Gray - 4447490

Police

Police are investigating the assault of two females that occurred at a residence in Gray earlier this morning.

It is believed that at approximately 1:00am, two males entered the residence armed with a hammer and a baseball bat.

A 24-year-old female was woken by the sound of barking dogs and found the front door of the residence ajar when a male allegedly confronted her and assaulted her with a hammer.

It is alleged that the two males then assaulted a 30-year-old female who was also sleeping at the residence, before fleeing the scene.

Police and St John Ambulance attended and the 30-year-old female was conveyed to the Royal Darwin Hospital for injuries to her leg.

Both males have been described as of aboriginal appearance and solid build. One male has been described as approximately 170cm tall, wearing a white shirt and jeans and the second male as approximately 180cm tall, wearing a black shirt and jeans.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
