Assault - Alice Springs

Police

Alice Springs Police are calling for public assistance in relation to the assault of two males in Head Street early this morning.

The two 18-year-old men were in the car park at Head Oval at about 1:30am when they were approached by six youths in a Green 4x4 vehicle. An argument ensued between the two parties before the offenders exited the car and chased the victims onto the oval where they proceeded to punch and kick the victims before stealing their wallets and mobile phones.

An 18-year-old friend of the victims, who had decamped to avoid being assaulted, called Police. Alice Springs Police and St John Ambulance personnel attended the scene soon after where they located and conveyed the victims to Alice Springs Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries to their faces and bodies.

The victims have been released from the Alice Springs Hospital and are currently assisting Police with investigations.

Members located the vehicle of interest at a popular Undoolya Road lookout with substantial damage to the front end.

The offenders are described as being of Aboriginal appearance, ranging in age between 17 and 21 years.

Police investigations into the matter are continuing.

Police urge any one who may have witnessed the incidents or who has further information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stopper on 1800 333 000
