Police are calling for witnesses in relation to an assault on a 20-year-old man in Alice Springs over night.

Police allege that at around 1.45 am this morning, the 20 yr old male from Victoria was attacked by a group of 5-6 juveniles with an empty bottle in Head Street, Alice Springs.

The group stole the victim's black and silver Jamis mountain bike and he received a black eye and minor bruises and cuts.

Police are investigating the matter to identify the offenders and would like to speak with the group of young females who rendered assistance to the victim, following the assault.
