Arrests for break-ins –Alice Springs

Police arrested two men following a break-in at an Alice Springs hotel bottle shop on Monday night.

The pair allegedly unlawfully entered the Gap View Hotel just before midnight on Monday after forcing the roller door to the bottle shop. Alarms were activated and one of the offenders - a 24-year-old man - was apprehended by security patrols as he was running from the hotel. Police arrived and found the second offender, a 22-year-old man, hiding on top of the cool room.

Both were arrested and charged with unlawful entry, criminal damage and stealing.

They will both appear in court at a later date.

Meanwhile members of the Property Crime Reduction Unit investigating a break-in at the Heavitree Gap Hotel in the early hours of Monday morning have arrested two teenagers in relation to the incident.

Police allege the pair and a co-offenders unlawfully entered the hotel around 2am on Monday morning. Two of the offenders aged 15 and 17 were later identified and arrested. They have both been released to be considered for Youth Diversion.

Police investigations are continuing to locate the third offender.
