Police

Two Bulgarian males wanted by the NT Police for exchanging counterfeit Euros at various banks in Darwin were arrested in Perth yesterday by WA Police Major Fraud Squad.

After several weeks of joint enquiries by the NT Police Major Fraud Unit and WA Police, with the assistance of Customs and other agencies, the men were arrested at premises in Scarborough WA yesterday.

A warrant executed by WA Police at the premises revealed several 'card skimming devices' as well as blank plastic cards, some counterfeit Euro currency and 3 false foreign passports.

The men are due to appear in a Perth Court today and are expected to be charged with various offences in relation to the possession of the counterfeit currency, the 'skimming devices' and false passports.

NT Police allege the offenders passed approximately 15 000 Euros in counterfeit money in several Darwin banks, during January and February.

Negotiations are continuing between local Police and WA Police in relation to charges arising from the offences committed in the Northern Territory.

NT Major Fraud Unit detectives are continuing enquiries.
