A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in relation to the unlawful use of a $120,000 Mercedes car in March this year.

Police allege the boy was with two co-offenders on March 4 driving around the CBD in a car which had earlier in the night been stolen from a Roberts Crescent residence. The vehicle was later located abandoned in Bloomfield Street.

Police arrested him on Thursday afternoon (June 3) and he has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, drive unlicensed and furnishing a false name.

He was also charged with assault police and hinder police in relation to an incident which occurred in October last year where he allegedly punched a police officer who was trying to take the keys out of a stolen car in which he was a passenger.

He has been bailed to appear in the Youth Justice Court today.
