Arrest for unlawful entries -Alice Springs

Police

Police are investigating an unlawful entry at a residence in Van Senden Avenue on Friday night.

Police received a report just after 9am on Saturday from the 45-year-old female victim who returned home on Saturday morning and found her house had been unlawfully entered. Thieves gained entry to the house by smashing a laundry window. They then ransacked the rooms and made off with a laptop computer, Playstation, jewellery and a blue and white BMX bicycle.

Police investigations led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man who was found to be in possession of some of the stolen jewellery. The jewellery was seized and he was later released without charge pending further investigations.

In a separate incident police received a report that a male armed with a cricket bat had unlawfully entered a house in Beechcraft Court. The 39-year-old female occupant of the house told police she had been working on her computer in the study when she heard a noise inside the house. She went to the lounge and saw a male armed with a cricket bat on the other side of a glass door. He fled when she yelled at him and the woman called police. The male appears to have entered the house through an unlocked door. Police are again warning people to ensure they lock their houses, even when they are at home.
