Arrest for three assaults –Alice Springs -4524717. 4518946, 4496853

A man has been arrested in relation to three serious assaults in Alice Springs since March.

In the first incident which occurred on March 19 in the CBD, the 29-year-old man allegedly assaulted his 32-year-old wife by throwing a full can or beer at her head before kicking her and hitting her numerous times with a stick.

Then on April 20 the victim was again allegedly punched and hit with a stick by her husband, causing severe lacerations.

On April 29 police were called to Little Sisters Camp following a report that the same man had attacked a 56-year-old man. The victim was punched to the face, whipped with a hose and struck with a metal pole, before being hit to the head with a shovel.

Police investigations led to the arrest of the alleged offender on Monday May 3 at Charles Creek Camp. He has been charged with numerous offences including aggravated assault and being armed with an offensive weapon. He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on June 26.
