Arrest - Ram raids - Pinelands and Coolalinga

Police

Three males aged 15, 17 and 21-years-old are currently in police custody in relation to criminal damage, unlawful entry and traffic offences.

At about 3:14 am this morning police received a report of a white coloured Mitsubishi Triton utility stolen from residential premises on Freshwater Drive in Jingili.

About an hour later police were called to the NT Motorcycle Centre on the Stuart Highway in Pinelands where it is alleged the stolen vehicle was used to smash into a roller door at the premises. The offenders were unable to gain entry to the shop and fled the scene.

Ten minutes later police were called to another unlawful entry at Coolalinga where it is believed the same offenders used the stolen vehicle to gain access to another motorcycle shop. A trail bike and two small motorbikes were removed from the business before the youths attempted to flee the scene.

Responding police members observed the stolen car leaving the area and a pursuit was initiated. Police pursued the vehicle along a number of streets in Moulden, Marlow Lagoon and into Driver reaching speeds of up to 130km.

The offenders exited the car in Driver and attempted to flee on foot. Police followed and two of the offenders were arrested a short time later.

Police conducted patrols of the area and the Dog Operations Unit participated in searching for the outstanding offenders.

A short time later police received intelligence resulting in the arrest of a third offender.

A number of persons of interest are outstanding; however, police are confident they will locate them.

Two of the stolen motorcycles were recovered on the rear of the stolen utility.

Superintendent, Robert Jordan, said this was another example of timely police work.

"Police urge any one who may have further information in relation to the incident to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000".

Media Note - Superintendent Robert Jordan will be available for an interview, at Casuarina Police Station at 11:00 am.
